About SOAFEE
SOAFEE's Mission is to bring modern cloud-native development paradigms to automotive. We unite automakers, suppliers, and tech firms to develop a standardized open architecture for software-defined vehicles.
SOAFEE bridges cloud and in-vehicle software development, enabling developers to build and test in the cloud and deploy seamlessly to vehicles using a common, hardware-agnostic framework.
Governance & Community
SOAFEE is led by a Governing Body of founding members and supported by working groups driving technical and marketing progress. This open governance ensures collaborative evolution of the architecture and successful promotion of our work and ecosystem.

1/3
Governing Body
The Governing Body is crucial in guiding the SOAFEE initiative to success. It is responsible for:
- Setting the strategic direction and goals of the SOAFEE SIG.
- Overseeing the execution of SOAFEE SIG.
- Voting on technical and marketing proposals.
- Promoting SOAFEE within relevant ecosystems.
2/3
Technical Steering Committee
The Technical Steering Committee (TSC) drives SOAFEE’s technical vision, architecture, and execution, while also coordinating with various work groups to ensure smooth communication and collaboration. The committee is responsible for:
- Leading SOAFEE’s technical vision, architecture, and execution.
- Creating working groups to achieve the strategic visions set by the Governing Body.
- Establishing working groups to discuss specific topics in detail.
3/3
Marketing Steering Committee
The Marketing Steering Committee (MSC) handles SOAFEE’s external communications. The committee is responsible for:
- Creating a marketing plan.
- Managing SOAFEE’s external messaging.
- Developing marketing materials like white papers, websites, presentations, and social media content.
- Planning and executing marketing events.
- Planning Go-To-Market (GTM) outreach for the ecosystem and consumers.
- Collaborating with the TSC on roadmap and milestone creation.
Membership
All voting members are required to sign the membership agreement. This is to ensure that the rules for voting can be enforced such as one vote per member company. This will also ensure that explicit rights are given to make use of corporate logos on the SOAFEE website.
All contributions to the GB, TSC, and MSC will be covered under the contribution agreement as outlined in their respective project repositories.
For those members that do not want to, or cannot sign the membership agreement, they will still be able to contribute to the project so long as the contribution agreement is adhered to.
The membership levels and terms may from time to time be reviewed and modified by a majority vote of the governing body.

Membership Benefits
- As a voting member of the SOAFEE SIG you will be invited to join in Steering Committee and Working Group activities making contributions based on your technology or expertise.
- You will be able to submit SOAFEE Blueprints either as sole contributions or with multiple SOAFEE members and benefit from SOAFEE promotion.
- You will also get access to networking with other SOAFEE members for collaboration on SOAFEE topics.
- You will also get access to the outputs from the Working Groups, Steering Committees and the SOAFEE Gitlab repository.
SOAFEE.next
As the number of active SOAFEE members accelerates, so does the progress of the initiative. As part of its next technical evolution, SOAFEE.next has introduced new developments that scale the initiative and improve accessibility to software solutions across our growing member community and beyond. These include:
- The introduction of the Arm Reference Design-1 AE hardware solution for automotive for strong alignment with SOAFEE-based software solutions. This will enable functional safety and mixed critical orchestration for hardware and software. This means different software-defined functions within an automotive computing solution that can run at different levels of safety criticality and real-time requirements without impacting software development.
- The integration of virtual platforms into SOAFEE, which enables virtual prototyping for early foundational and application software development without the need for silicon. This will be delivered through SOAFEE members, such as Cadence, Corellium, Synopsys and Siemens, and integrated with SOAFEE Special Interest Group (SIG) working groups for expedited delivery of SOAFEE architecture features. The virtual platforms can showcase cloud development by hosting SOAFEE Blueprints as examples.
- The advancement of software assurance and services, expanding the services of Linaro to SOAFEE. This supports the development of further full-stack software solutions from SOAFEE members by providing additional validation services. This follows the first SOAFEE Integration Lab with Linaro, which allows members to validate their implementations of the SOAFEE architecture through their own remote labs.
Being part of SOAFEE is not just about joining a group; it’s about being at the forefront of the automotive software revolution. It’s an opportunity to shape the future and make a lasting impact on the automotive industry.
SOAFEE Blueprints
A SOAFEE Blueprint is any use of, or contribution to, the SOAFEE architecture including, but not limited to, example reference applications and technologies.
- Can be compromised of work from multiple member companies.
- Can involve work/components as a part of membership of other SDV Alliance Members (E.g. COVESA, AUTOSAR, and Eclipse SDV)
- Should help advance the SOAFEE architecture through the technical working organization.
- Will be promoted externally as part of ongoing SOAFEE Marketing.
Through the SOAFEE Blueprint program, SOAFEE members contribute real-world examples of SDV workloads and technologies within the SOAFEE architecture to help give SDV developers a head-start. By pairing blueprints with cloud-based virtual prototyping, developers can even start before the vehicle or electronic hardware is available, and start to implement their software within the CI/CD system that the cloud offers.
